The GeneSieve™ Solutions
The GeneSieve™ Bioanalysis Software Package is designed to enable researchers to find the most appropriate StellARray™ qPCR
Arrays or gene lists associated with a particular research area or gene.
Two GeneSieve™ Bioanalysis Software versions exist:
The online versions allow the search for existing StellARary™ qPCR Arrays by using search terms such as subject keyword, disease area, gene ID or gene name
(Quick GeneSieve™) or by using gene lists (Batch GeneSieve™).
The advanced internal version of the GeneSieve™ Software is used at Bar Harbor BioTechnology for the design of any, inventoried or custom, StellARray™ qPCR Array.
In order to facilitate that StellARrays™ Products include the most relevant genes for specific biological themes, it merges databases containing gene-centric biological information
in a new and innovative way. With its powerful search engine capability, GeneSieve™ Software filters or "sieves" thousands of genes for custom population of real-time
PCR arrays that have a unifying biological theme, such as a particular disease or pathway of interest. GeneSieve™ Software is composed of several modules that work
together to assemble 'constellations' of genes associated with specific biological pathways and processes. Performing text-based mining of the scientific literature,
GeneSieve™ Software has overcome many of the current challenges of Named Entity Recognition (NER). It can quickly search the growing list of over 16 million scientific
abstracts for genes involved in a related process with a lower false positive rate than other methods. Genes are subsequently ranked by multiple fields including quantity
and quality of literature references. Additional gene filter modules include:
- Canonical signaling pathways
- Microarray data
- Gene ontology classifications
- Downstream targets of transcription factors
GeneSieve™ Software can also be used to sieve genes by chromosome position for performing gene discovery within Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) and mapped mutant loci. Data
for GeneSieve™ Software is stored in a simplified way such that multiple modules can be cross-queried simultaneously for increased validation of results.
